Southborough Youth and Family Services and Southborough Rec are calling on families to start thinking about what costumes to wear.
No, they’re not getting a too early jump on Halloween. They are announcing a new funtastic event in less than a month — Family Costume Karaoke.
The Karoke event will serve as a kickoff for this year’s “Day of Unplugging” and as a fundraiser for summer camp scholarships for families in need of the extra support.
As they have for years, SYFS is encouraging the community to participate in the celebrate International Day of Unplugging.
This year, mark your calendars to take part from sundown on Friday, March 1st to sundown Saturday, March 2nd.
SYFS will hold the fundraiser from 6:00 – 8:00 pm on March 1st at Finn School. Don’t worry about squeezing in dinner before you arrive. Pizza and drinks will be sold at the event.
The festivities should serve as nice distraction for many families to get everyone’s minds off their devices for the evening. (And let’s hope for good weather to beckon families outdoor the next day.)
The Town promotes:
It’s time to unplug!
Join us as we mix music and costumes for a night of family-friendly fun! Join us as your favorite characters take the stage to sing your hearts out! Everyone’s invited to dress up and belt out their favorite tunes.
Imagine Wonder Woman singing Taylor Swift’s “Cruel Summer” or Batman hitting the high notes of The Village People’s “YMCA”!? Let your imagination run wild as we celebrate creativity, laughter, and unforgettable performances.
Come dressed to impress and ready to rock the mic at Costume Karaoke!
Tickets can be purchased in advance for a discount here. (The price is $5 per person presale and $8 at the door.)
The event is being put on jointly by SYFS, Rec and the Friends of the Southborough Youth Commission.
