NSPAC Coffee on Thurs, DESE session Feb 27

This Thursday morning, the Northborough Southborough Special Education Parent Advisory Council (NSPAC)* will host another Coffee & Connect. And in two weeks, parents can learn about how to participate in evaluating the school district.

I’m sharing those details along with save-the-dates for other upcoming events.

2-15-24 Coffee & Connect flyerThe occasional Coffee & Connects are informal opportunities for parents/ guardians of students with IEPs and 504 pans in our school district to chat with other parents, share experiences, and ask for advice.

The next gathering is this Thursday, February 15th at 9:30 am. You can join them at Brilla Coffee in Northborough (600 Union St17 W. Main Street). All are welcome.

Please RSVP here.

The newsletter also notified that, this year, parents have the opportunity to participate in DESE’s (Mass Dept of Elementary & Secondary Education’s) evaluation of special education in our school district. (It’s an evaluation that takes place every three years.)

It explains:

It’s how DESE ensures that our district is following the laws and regulations for special education and civil rights. The Parent Orientation is an overview of the process.
