Southborough Democratic Caucus – Feb 29 (Updated)

Southborough Democrats are invited to attend the the party’s virtual caucus a week from tomorrow, to help elect delegates to represent our Town at the state convention.

To participate, you must be a Southborough resident age 16+*, registered as a member of the Democratic party. (Unlike in the primaries, voters can’t participate if they are unenrolled in a party.)

If you’d like to check or change your party registration, you can do that here

It’s worth reminding here that February 24th is the last day to register for the Super Tuesday Primary, for which early voting also starts on that day. Click here for those details.

The Southborough event will be held on Thursday, February 29th at the Southborough Library on the main floor. Registration will open at 5:30 pm, but the caucus won’t formally begin until 6:00 pm.

Democratic Caucus flyer 2024From the announcement:

Registered Democrats in Southborough will be holding a caucus at the Southborough Library to elect delegates and alternates to the 2024 Massachusetts Democratic Convention, where
Democrats from across Massachusetts will gather to endorse a candidate for US Senate and to amend the party charter. . .

We hope you can join us!

The MassDems convention will take place June 1st in Worcester at the DCU Center. For more information on Massdems caucuses and the state convention, click here.

*Worth noting for politically active teens, 16 & 17 year olds can vote in the caucus and even to be elected to attend as a youth delegate.

Updated (2/22/24 8:40 am): The committee chair Kelly Roney made a comment below clarifying some details, including that the caucus itself won’t last until 8:30 pm.

Thank you for posting this, Beth.
I expect the caucus not to take until 8:30, so it shouldn’t be a 3-hour meeting! The Southborough Democratic Town Committee will also meet after the caucus because we also need to elect delegates to the Middlesex & Worcester Senate Conference. For that, Democrats are eligible to be elected, but only SDTC members are eligible to vote for them.
This is all complicated but will be explained at the caucus and meeting.
