Overnight, a driver delivering papers had quite a fright when their car burst into flames, right by a residence. (Thankfully, while they weren’t inside it.)
A Facebook post by the Southborough Police Department recounts the incident, including the quick emergency response, giving partial credit to an officer on patrol happening upon the scene before it was called in.
The post shares:
Imagine the relief this driver felt to see Off. Frank Urbani pull up immediately after their car began smoking and quickly became engulfed in flames at 3:30am this morning on Chestnut Hill Rd. The vehicle, which was a short distance away from a nearby residence, quickly caught fire while the operator was out delivering newspapers. Off. Urbani came across the vehicle, prior to anyone calling to report the fire to the Southborough Dispatch. Southborough Fire Department was immediately notified and responded and made quick work of safely extinguishing the car fire. Our friends at Ted’s Towing then removed the vehicle. The operator was not injured during the incident.
A good reminder that our midnight shift is out patrolling; keeping the town safe while everyone sleeps. Great work, Off. Urbani!
