This Friday night kicks off the annual initiative for the community to “unplug” for a day. Southborough Youth and Family Services promotes the International Day of Unplugging, encouraging residents to take time away from screens and devices in order to reconnect with their families, friends, and/or nature.
This year, they are partnering with Southborough Recreation to hold a special kick-off event for families — Family Costume Karaoke.. It also serves as a Friends of the Southborough Youth Commission fundraiser for summer camp scholarships.
The festivities will run from 6:00 – 8:00 pm on Friday, March 1st at Finn School. (Don’t worry about squeezing in dinner before you arrive. Pizza and drinks will be sold at the event.)
Kids and parents singing their favorite songs should serve as nice distraction for many families to get everyone’s minds off their devices for the evening. (Unplugging is meant to be from sundown on Friday, March 1st to sundown Saturday, March 2nd.)
The Town promotes:
It’s time to unplug!
Join us as we mix music and costumes for a night of family-friendly fun! Join us as your favorite characters take the stage to sing your hearts out! Everyone’s invited to dress up and belt out their favorite tunes.
Imagine Wonder Woman singing Taylor Swift’s “Cruel Summer” or Batman hitting the high notes of The Village People’s “YMCA”!? Let your imagination run wild as we celebrate creativity, laughter, and unforgettable performances.
Come dressed to impress and ready to rock the mic at Costume Karaoke!
Tickets can be purchased in advance for a discount here. (The price is $5 per person presale and $8 at the door.)
