Next week, the community is invited to a presentation at the Southborough Library, to learn about a serious fatal birth defect, and preventative measures.
The talk is co-hosted by the Rotary Club of Southborough and a “global student initiative” co-founded by a student at St. Mark’s School.
The talk will take place on Wednesday, March 6th from 7:00 – 8:00 pm. Presenter Jasmine Liu promotes:
Neural Tube Defects are among the top 3 most fatal birth defects. With around half of all pregnancies being unplanned, mothers often can end up with affected babies from lack of knowledge of these harmful birth defects and preventative measures. Join us to learn more about NTDs, proper preventative measures, play a fun game, and more!
On Facebook, Rotary explains that supporting the free talk fits with one of their key areas of focus, Mother & Child health. They promotes that even if you can’t attend the talk, you can support the cause:

In her message to me, Liu further shared:
I am a co-founder of a global student initiative called NeuraHope that aims to spread awareness of NTDs through social media campaigns, professional Q&As, fundraising & community presentations/webinars! We are also raising money for local maternity centers to fund supplements & food for mothers to facilitate a healthy pregnancy! For those who may not be able to join, feel free to donate to us through the link: https://hcb.hackclub.com/donations/start/neurahope
All proceeds will go to Massachusetts & New York maternity centers.
