Updated (3/20/24 9:28 pm): Kindergroup announced a big change. The event has been moved up to this Friday, March 22nd at 4:30 pm! It will now take place at St. Mark’s field, instead of Neary.
Over the next couple of weeks, children may be focused on ideas for setting Leprechaun traps. But thoughts of the Easter Bunny are just around the corner.
Community members are invited to two Easter Egg Hunts the weekend before Easter.* One of those is the long standing annual tradition in Southborough, hosted by Southborough Kindergroup.
As usual, festivities will begin with the chance to take pictures with the Easter Bunny. (Bring your own camera.)
Details have changed over the years. The big change this spring is a new location — at Neary School’s campus, 53 Parkerville Road.
The event will take place at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 23rd. (The rain date is Saturday, March 30th.)
The event is again free** and no registration is necessary. Instead, Kindergroup is encouraging participating families to bring items to donate to the Food Pantry. (Visit Current Needs – Southborough Food Pantry closer to the date to see what’s most in need.)
As usual, festivities will begin with the chance to take pictures with the Easter Bunny. (Bring your own camera.)
The “hunt” will follow. (Bring your own basket to collect kids’ bounty.) It’s mostly gathering than more than hunting. But organizers confirmed that kids can again hunt for one of three “golden eggs” to win a special basket.
This spring’s fun includes plans for a petting zoo (with 15 baby animals).
Families will also be able to buy lunch or treats. (Vendors already committed are: Anzios, Kin and Kith, and the Little Bakery, with possibly more to come.) And Gubankian Florist will be selling Easter flowers.
Below are a couple pics from the 2022 event contributed by Southborough Kindergroup or from social media posts:
*It’s worth noting that Algonquin’s Honor Society is again holding its free egg hunt the same morning at 9:00 am for Northborough and Southborough families. I’ll be posting those details this week.
**The free event is made possible through sponsorships by Middlesex Savings Bank, Gulbankian Florist, Silver Leaf Acupuncture, Wegman’s, Kate Eckstein Design, and Nan’s Kitchen & Market.
