Northborough-Southborough’s youth league, Algonquin Baseball and Softball, asked me to let the community know that it’s not too late to sign up 5-7 year olds for this spring.
The season kicks off next month, so they would obviously like you to act soon. ABSA’s information officer informed me of some details that parents of the age group might care about when making the decision.
The league works with soccer and lacrosse on the scheduling to avoid conflicts with other town sports. And the games for young Southborough players are held only with teams in our town, so it’s “all very local”.
For Baseball they promote the following options:
- T-Ball – $100
- Coach/Machine Pitch (Single A) – $170
- Kid Pitch (Double A)- $225
The website clarifies that T-Ball is mostly for the 4-5 year olds. For the A and AA options, players ages 6+ play in the minor league and are organized “based on age and ability” to “progressively move through each level as their baseball skills and knowledge of the game develop.”
For Softball, registration is simply by grade:
- Sandlot (Pre-K and K)- $100
- Rookie (1st, and 2nd) – $170
