Southborough’s Council on Aging and Southborough Access Media have teamed up to produce a new original series.
Hosted by resident senior Doug Peck, the program will cover “topics that are interesting and informational, particularly for the senior citizens.”
Some shows will focus on Southborough, like the first episode in which Peck interviewed Town Administrator Mark Purple. (Scroll down for that.)
Others will look beyond our town, and even overseas. SAM’s Executive Director Terry Underwood described the second episode, coming soon, featuring:
a woman in Paris, France who is part of an international senior citizen group called Pass It On. They are looking out for seniors and helping each other across continents and in this case, ‘across the pond’.
Topics included what companies are doing when a work force retires, or getting ready to retire because there is going to be a knowledge and experience vacuum. There are also instances where seniors may want to work part time. In the example discussed in this show, you will hear how this high tech company in France continues to address these issues and how these steps could apply to companies and employees elsewhere, including the US. With a large group of aging population across the globe and people living longer, these issues and situations are not unique to one region, but deserve to have lessons learned, shared for a larger collaboration.
The current plan is for two episodes per month, with a two month summer break.
Programs can be streamed on SAM’s YouTube Channel and Public Access website.
They will also be aired on the cable Public Access Channel (Verizon-38 and Charter-191). The first episode is currently scheduled to air:
- (tonight) Thursday, March 14th at 9:00 pm
- Friday, March 15th at 2:30, 6:00 and 8:00 pm
- Saturday, March 16th at 9:00 pm
- Sunday, March 17th at 2:30, 6:00 and 8:00 pm
