In three years, Southborough will celebrate its 300th anniversary. The Tricentennial Committee is seeking suggestions and input to help them plan “magical year of memorable events.”
The survey has open ended questions to allow suggestions. The committee is also seeking to find out public interest in ideas that have already been floated:
- Family BBQ
- Fireworks
- Gala Event
- Garden Tour
- Golf Tournament
- History Talks
- House Tour
- Laser Show
- Music Festival
- Octoberfest
- Parade(s)
- Softball Tournament
- Time Capsule
The committee is also looking for input on memorabilia you would be interested in buying, organizations that would like to get involved, historical aspects you would like to have highlighted, and how you would like to stay posted on future news.
Help them out by filling in the survey here. (You can also use it to sign up to volunteer.)
It’s worth noting that on Saturday, Town Meeting agreed to fund $30K of seed money for the celebrations. The group hopes to raise remaining funds through donations and sponsorships. Chair Don Morris pitched that the seed money would help assure potential donors that the Town is serious about its efforts for the celebrations.
(If they are successful enough, they may even return some of the seed money to the Town’s coffers.)
