This month, St. Mark’s School is holding its annual jazz festival. The Cutler Jazz Festival features guest performers along with the school’s Jazz Band. As always, the public is invited to attend for free.
This year’s festival feature a Grammy winning “genre-defying musician”, Charles Haynes, and the Xavier Jazz Band, along with the school’s Jazz Band.

Composer, producer, songwriter, and drummer Charles Haynes, has been awarded a Grammy, Golden Globe, and Image Award with an abundance of nominations, including one Oscar and one Emmy. He is a genre-defying musician whose mastery of modern drumming and production including jazz, gospel, Hip Hop, Folk, and R&B, have led him to collaborate with an array of amazing artists. This resume boasts serving as Musical Director (MD) for Ayo and Co-Musical Director for Lady Gaga. With his impeccable skills as a songwriter, producer, and percussionist Charles has also accompanied and toured with Queen Latifah, UK superstar Ed Sheeran, Meshell Ndegeocello, Kanye West, Mos Def, “MIA”, Maxwell, Ledisi, the legendary Patti LaBelle, gospel giants Kirk Franklin and Kim Burrell, and jazz legends including Keyon Harold, Roy Hargrove, Kenny Garret, Marcus Miller, Jason Moran, Robert Glasper, and acclaimed jazz vocalist Samara Joy. The list continues to grow. In addition to touring, Charles is a music producer for the FOX network show The Mask Singer, and the new Jamie Foxx show We Are Family.
The St. Mark’s concert will take place Sunday, April 21st at 6:30 pm.
No registration is required to attend.
The event will be in the Class of ’45 Hall inside Putnam Family Arts Center (#13 on the campus map). Parking for is available in the Athletics parking lot off Rt 85 (near #27 on the map).
