[The Boston Marathon always includes a pack of runners from our town. Between now and Patriots Day, I’m featuring stories of resident runners donning bibs for a cause]
Southborough’s Caleb Kane is “excited to pay forward” all that youth sports gave him by running the 128th Boston Marathon for the Play Ball Foundation:
The Play Ball Foundation’s mission is to “get more feet on the field” in middle School sports programs in Massachusetts by funding coaches, equipment & apparel, and transportation. Growing up, I was fortunate to participate in a wide range of youth sports, that I am still benefiting from to this day. Through these opportunities, I have been lucky enough to make lifelong friendships, gain mentors in coaches, and learn invaluable life lessons on how to be a part of something bigger than myself and what makes a team. Perhaps most importantly, participating in youth sports ultimately opened the doors for me to attend my dream school
You can see his marathon team photo in the charity’s recent instagram post. (Kane is on the right, holding the corner of the banner.)
