The Southborough Police Department is sharing news that they believe a Southborough home burglarized this winter was part of a string of burglaries that targeted Indian and South Asian families.
According to their release, four people alleged to be “linked” to the crime have been arrested. The SPD is hoping they can help see some of the family’s items returned to them.
Chief Ryan Newell’s press release states:
On Friday, April 26, we received word that multiple arrests had been made regarding a string of burglaries that had been targeting Indian and South Asian families across multiple Massachusetts towns. Four individuals from Rhode Island were placed into custody and are believed to have committed at least 43 burglaries in Massachusetts.
One of the burglaries that this crew has been linked to was a burglary that had occurred in Southborough between December 2023-January 2024, while the family was out of the country. Southborough Police will be working with the Task Force in hopes that the items taken during the Southborough burglary will be identified and returned to the victims.
The investigating team consisted of the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, the State Police detective unit assigned to the District Attorney’s Office and the State Police Division of Homeland Security, including the MACrimeNet program operated by the State Police Fusion Center. Great work by all Law Enforcement agencies involved in the investigation and arrests of these suspects!
