Sound & Spirit concert promises a Magical concert this weekend

There is one more community chorus concert this weekend that I forgot to share news on.

Sound & Spirit is an intergenerational chorus based in Metrowest that includes at least a few Southborough residents among its members ages 8-80. Their 13th season opens with concerts this Saturday and Sunday.

The group’s website promotes itself to prospective members as singing “high-level, challenging music delivered in a community-based, accessible, joy-driven way”.

Some of that joy, appears to be through theatrical choreography. You can get a feel for that from the video below they posted to recruit new members a couple of years ago:

The concert “We’ve Got Magic to Do” will be held at Natick High School on Saturday, May 4th at 7:00 pm and Sunday, May 5th at 4:00 pm.

While it’s not Broadway themed like the NACC and WCC concerts this weekend, it does include a couple of Broadway hits. The group describes:

From music to thoughtful choreography and visual arts elements, S&S is known for heartwarming shows with their own special kind of magic.

“We’ve Got Magic to Do” is chockablock full of crowd-pleasers and thumb-snappers like our Kids Choir version of Aladdin’s “Friend Like Me” and our Teen’s rollicking rendering of “B.O.B. Magic.” The Adults join the fun with a big choral romp with Broadway smash hit, “Hadestown” and “No One Mourns the Wicked” from Wicked – as well as the exuberant challenge of Vivaldi’s “Gloria.” S&S loves every genre, so you’ll hear John Williams’ Harry Potter favorite, “Double Trouble” and also the throwback to the 1958 hit, “Witch Doctor.”  Be transported through the otherworldly charm of songs like “Garten Mother’s Lullaby” and prepare to be bewitched by the roof-raising finale from the new holiday classic Spirited with a song that embodies the S&S music with a message, “Do a Little Good,” guaranteed to bring down the house!

Tickets are available online for $15 per student, $20 per senior, and $25 per adult.
