Southborough’s Open Space Preservation Commission is inviting the public to join them on an “Early Morning Bird Walk at Breakneck Hill Conservation Land” this Sunday.
(If the early bird catches the worm, then I guess the early birder catches the bird.)
The group will be gathering at the BHCL main trailhead parking lot on Sunday, May 19th at 7:30 am. (That’s across the street from 73 Breakneck Hill Road.)
The invite announces:
Jude Griffen from Mass Audubon will lead the walk as we look for the birds of Breakneck Hill. We expect to find both common and species of highest conservation concern in the state. Bluebirds, bobolinks, indigo buntings, orioles, mockingbirds, and warblers are some of the rich species diversity we can expect to see at Breakneck Hill.
Bring binoculars and water. Bird ID books if you like.* The terrain is hilly but its easy slopes.
No registration is required for this event.
There is a chance of rain on Sunday. Rather than a specific rain date, the invite explains that if rain forces them to postpone the walk (to a future date TBD), a notice will be posted after 7:00 pm on Saturday night on OSPC’s web page here.
*Updated (5:15/24 1:31 pm): Organizers updated that it would be helpful (though not required) for attendees to download the Merlin Bird ID app to their phones prior to the event.
