A few years ago, both Algonquin and Trottier performed the musical Legally Blond. Now, Curtain Up is inviting adults to give it a twirl.
They are putting out a call to audition this month for a role or to be part of the singing and dancing ensemble.
The local community theater will perform the musical this fall on Trottier stage, but the cast won’t be comprised of the young players who usually trod that stage.
To audition for a part, you must be of age. The announcement states:
We’re seeking talented actors, singers, and dancers to fill a variety of roles and ages. (18+) The ensemble of this show has many featured parts for all aged adults that include Harvard law students and professors, salon employees/patrons, prison inmates, courtroom roles, and sorority sisters. . .
Don’t miss your chance to be part of this exciting production! For more information, visit curtainuptheater.org Break a leg!
Although the casting is this spring, rehearsals for the play won’t start until the last week of August. Cast members will only be required to attend rehearsals when needed.
The show will be performed Friday – Sunday, November 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. (Tech Week is October 27 – 30 at Trottier.)
Auditions and rehearsals will be held out of the Skyrise Theater Studio in Westborough.
To audition, you must submit a form and register for a timeslot. Preliminary auditions are:
- Friday, May 31st, 7:30 – 10:30 pm
- or Sunday, June 2nd, 12:00 – 2:00 pm
Call backs will be Sunday, June 2nd, 3:00 – 5:00 pm. (Auditioners will be notified if they are selected for Call Back by Saturday night or by 2:30 pm on Sunday.)
For those interested in auditioning, Curtain Up instructs:
- Prepare a song in the style of the show and be ready to showcase your acting abilities.
- Bring your own music track to connect to their sound system (by Bluetooth or USB), since they won’t have a live accompanist.

For those unfamiliar with Curtain Up, the regional community theater venture was announced in the fall of 2023. The president, Alexis Nodiff, is a Southborough resident. It’s first performance was a Broadway revue with a cast that that included other Southborough residents.
