Since I last posted, the Central Mass Athletic Directors Association announced and kicked off this spring’s Central Mass tournaments. Most Algonquin teams didn’t make the cut, but a few are in it.
On Friday, top seed Gonk Girls Tennis played Nashoba in the CMass Class A Semi-Finals. They won 4-1. They’ll face off against Shrewsbury tomorrow afternoon for the Finals on their home court.
Outside of the tourney, the team also added one more loss and one more win. Their record is 11-5, but they were downshifted in MIAA’s Division 1 Power Rankings to #13.
ARHS Boys Lacrosse is 2nd seed in the CMass Class A tourney. They’ll play #3 Grafton in the Sem-Finals tomorrow at the Gonkplex.
Boys Tennis, Girls Lacrosse, Softball, Baseball, and Boys Volleyball weren’t seeded high enough to make the playoffs.
Boys Tennis lost their “non-playoff game” against Shrewsbury on Friday. The other teams play this week.
Boys and Girls Lacrosse each added one win and one loss to their records last week. The Boys are now at 9-7 and slipped again in the MIAA Division 2 rankings to #21. The Girls are 10-6 and remain ranked #24.
Boys Tennis moved up in the D2 rankings to #34. That was before they lost to Shrewsbury 5-0 on Friday.
Baseball is now 6-10 after two more losses and one win last week. They moved up four spots to #11 for D2. Softball lost last week, extending its losing streak to 6 games and lowering its record to 4-11. The team slipped two more slots in Division 1 to #44.
Boys Volleyball has been on a 7 game losing streak, including all three of its games last week. Its record is 4-12, and the team is now #49 for D1.
In Rugby, the Girls are still undefeated and ranked #2 by MIAA. Their 5th win last week was 38-0 over Needham. The Boys beat Burncoat, improving their record to 4-2, but slipping in the D2 rankings to #8.
Girls Golf lost both of its games last week.
On Friday and Sunday, the Outdoor Track teams will compete at the State Championships. (I didn’t have success finding any posted results for their League Meet this past weekend.)
Now, here are the ARHS varsity games on tap for the week:

Updated (5/21/24 6:55 pm): I had incorrectly posted a photo of Westborough, rather than Algonquin Girls Lacrosse. Oops! (I was on the run with my small device and missed the Westborough printed right across their chest! Unusually, Owen Jones covered Westborough games last week.)
Updated (5/23/24 9:31 am): I clarified that the Outdoor Track State Championships is this Friday and Sunday, and updated the schedule for this week, including adding Boys Rugby’s game on Thursday.
