The public is invited to the Installation Ceremony for the new Southborough Fire Chief this Saturday.
According to the program promoted by the Town, Andrew Puntini will become the Southborough Fire Department’s 10th chief.*
Don’t head to the Public Safety Building for the swearing in. The event will be held at Cordaville Hall (a.k.a. the Southborough Senior Center), 9 Cordaville Road.
It’s scheduled to begin at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 1st. Refreshments will follow the ceremony. (See program below.)
Soon-to-be-Chief Puntini was unanimously chosen in early April as the Select Board’s top pick out of three finalists. He had been serving as a Captain/Shift Commander in Foxborough and on-call firefighter in Ashland.
He replaces Chief Stephen Achilles, who announced in December that he would be retiring from the fire service in February. (He took a job as the Fire Protection Manager for Universal’s Epic theme park in Orlando.)
To cover the gap during the job search, former Boxborough Fire Chief Paul Fillebrown Jr. was appointed to serve as Interim Chief.
*I’m assuming the 10th doesn’t count interim chiefs.
Congratulations and welcome to Southborough!
