Southborough Rec is promoting two levels of outdoor Pickleball lessons for beginners starting next week — Beginner 1 for newbies and Beginner 2 for those who already know the ropes but need help with their skills.
Usually, by the time I learn that the lessons are being offered, the program is already full. So be sure to sign up quickly if you are interested!
The lessons are for adults ages 18+, offered at $90 per session, which covers six weekly 90 minute lessons.
Both levels of classes are led by “Certified Pickleball Instructor” Lisa Giusti. Each class is limited to 8 players. For Beginner 1 classes there are three timeslots, but only one Beginner 2 class.
Beginner 1
An instructional pickleball program for athletes new to the sport or just beginning. Learn the game’s rules, techniques and skills. The curriculum will begin with the basics and end with participants playing full games against each other.
- Tuesdays, July 2nd to August 6th, 9:00 – 10:30 am
- Wednesdays, July 3rd to August 7th
- 10:00 – 11:30 am
- 5:00 – 6:30 pm
Beginner 2
Players must have either already completed a prior Beginner 1 clinic or be “rated 2.5 with knowledge of scoring and court positioning”.
This is for players who want to gain more confidence on the court and improve their overall pickleball experience. The program focuses on proper technique and mechanics in developing more consistency with shots like dinks, drops, groundstrokes, volleys, serves, etc.
The class will be held Tuesdays, July 2nd to August 6th, 10:30 am – 12:00 pm.
All classes are held at the Tennis Courts at Mooney Field. (That’s on the Finn School campus, 60 Richards Road. (See image of parking and location right.)
