Rec Commission recruiting new volunteers

Recreation Commissioners are seeking volunteers to fill the two seats that just opened up on their five member committee. They need new members to help them make quorum and share the responsibilities.

To help recruit volunteers, the Commission is promoting the opportunity with details about its important role and the work involved.

The Commission asked me to share the following announcement:

The Southborough Recreation Commission is recruiting! Are You Interested In:

  • Maintenance and upkeep of the 10 distinct recreational venues encompassed within Southborough inclusive of all school fields & tracks, tennis courts, South Union/Arts Center, all playgrounds, and neighborhood fields.
  • All Recreation Department Offerings including summer programming.
  • Southborough Festivals such as Summer Nights, Heritage Day Parade and Celebration, Halloween Trunk or Treat, Free Summer Concert Series

Playing critical roles in:

  • Implementation of a new Southborough Dog Park
  • Opportunity to represent the Recreation Department interests as the liaison to the Neary
  • School Building Committee
  • Represent recreation commission as the appointed representative on the CPC committee
  • Project to assess putting in turf at Woodward/Choate Fields ADA Compliance projects
  • Opportunity to sit on the 21 Highland Future Use Committee as a liaison/member of the Recreation Commission.
  • Updates to the Trottier School Fields inclusive of updates to batting cages.
