Obituary: Carole “Cazza” Walsh (Murray), 88

Carole “Cazza” Walsh (Murray), 88, passed away peacefully in North Carolina at the home of her son John and his wife Mary on Monday, July 1,2024. Carole lived much of her adult years in Southborough, MA but also spent many cherished years in her Cape Cod cottage in Dennis Port, MA.

Carole leaves behind many dear family members, friends, 15 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren including her son Kevin (Southborough, MA), daughter Donna Colavita (Ashland, MA) and her husband Christopher, son John (Burlington, NC) and his wife Mary (Cosby), and son Timothy (Stow, MA) and his wife Michelle (Slagel). She also leaves behind her dear brother George Murray and his companion Judith Shields and dear sister Donna Carpinella. She was predeceased by son Patrick John and siblings Marie Fidler, John (Jack) Murray, Walter (Wally) Murray, Thomas (Duddy) Murray, Francis (Butch) Murray and her parents George D. Murray and Helen Murray (Greenall).

Carole was born in Boston and lived her childhood years in Jamaica Plain before moving to Cordaville Road in Southborough with her husband Henry Walsh in 1959.

Carole was an amazing lady. She worked 2-3 jobs at a time for 25+ years; essentially 60-70 a week to support her family. She demonstrated there was no substitute for hard work, commitment, and a positive attitude. She was warm and compassionate, however fiercely protective of her family. Despite the long hours of work, she always found time to attend her kids’ various sporting events, school plays, dancing events, etc. She especially loved to be “vocal” at the Southborough men’s softball fields. She found the time to create wonderful holiday celebrations and will always be remembered for her late-night caring prep of apple pies, chocolate cream pies, and banana cream pies (for Kevin) just before the holidays. But it wasn’t just her pies. We will have fond memories of her wonderful fruit cocktail and sherbet appetizer to start holiday dinners. Many friends and family cherished her famous coffee cakes delivered at Christmas! She was a loyal Boston sports fan and one can not miss her signed photo from her “baby doll” Dustin Pedroia proudly hung in her porch next to the TV (usually with the Red Sox game on).

She worked hard for her family but also for her dream of owning a home on Cape Cod. She purchased her dream home in Dennis Port, MA in 1995. She especially loved having all her grandchildren down the Cape for her annual Memorial Day weekend cookouts and visits to the Sundae School for early evening ice cream! Carole had many dear friends on the Cape but special thx to Patty and Dennis Goyette for their friendship, caring and support over all these years.

Visiting hours for Carole will be held on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, from 5:00-7:00PM at the Morris-Johnston Funeral Home, 40 Main Street, Southborough, MA 01772. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at 10:00AM at St. Matthew Church, Highland Street, Southborough, MA. Burial will follow at Southborough Rural Cemetery, 11 Cordaville Road, Southborough, MA 01772.
