This morning, the developer for the proposed 5 story 40B at 120 Turnpike Road is flying a balloon test.
The test is to demonstrate the visual impact of a building that height at that location.
According to a tweets and a News Flash from the Town, the test was originally scheduled for August 8th but delayed due to weather forecasts. It was rescheduled to begin at 9:00 am this morning (Monday, August 12th) and run until noon.
The notice was posted to the Town website on August 5th and updated on August 7th.
Unfortunately, yet again, the News Flash wasn’t coded under any categories. So it wasn’t emailed/texted to members of the public who signed up for notifications — including those who signed up for notices from the Zoning Board of Appeals or the topic “120 Turnpike Road Comprehensive Permit”.
Updated (8/12/24 12:05 pm) I was curious about the test. I was able to walk to a view across the reservoir to get an idea of the height. (I didn’t have access to a car today, so couldn’t check out views from vantage points behind the property.) I don’t have confirmation that this was it — but I saw what looked like one white balloon flying behind 120 Turnpike Road. (Click on the thumbnail right for the image I captured.)
