Obituary: Sharon (Gaudion) Sanford, 81

Sharon G. “Shari” (Gaudion) Sanford, 81, of Southborough, passed away at MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham, MA on Friday, August 2, 2024, after a brief but courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and her family was her greatest joy.

She was the daughter of the late Donald A. and Gertrude (McKie) Gaudion and the wife of Robert T. Sanford, who were married for 58 years.

In addition to her husband Bob, she is survived by her daughter, Bobbi Roberts and her husband Jim of Southborough, her son, Jeff Sanford and his wife Martha of Norfolk, MA and her grandchildren, Jack and Abby Roberts and Suzie, Evie, and Mason Sanford. She is also survived by her sister, Jacquie McClelland and her husband George of Southborough and her brother, Don Gaudion and his wife Debbie of Pittsford, NY. She is survived by her cherished nieces and nephew, and many friends, too.

Shari was born and raised in Rochester, NY and earned her B.A. from Simmons College in Boston. She and Bob were married after Shari’s graduation and soon thereafter chose Southborough for their home. Shari’s greatest love in life was spending time with her family. She was fortunate to spend her youth at Canandaigua Lake in New York, where her parents regularly hosted friends and family. In her later years, she was able to share many precious memories with her own children and grandchildren on Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire. Watching her five grandchildren grow up was one of the greatest joys of her life. She was so proud of each of them. Beyond her family, Shari was involved in many activities. When her children were young, she volunteered at the schools, became a skilled calligrapher, helped with the church cookbook and participated in a sewing group. As she grew older, she enjoyed her book club and her many wonderful years with the Southborough Gardeners Club. Throughout her life, she loved playing the piano, baking, and creating her beautiful embroidery and sewing projects. She was a member of Pilgrim Congregational Church for all of her years in Southborough, where she especially appreciated the wonderful music. Her family is blessed for their time together and will miss her dearly.

A Celebration of Life Service for Shari will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, August 18, 2024, at Pilgrim Congregational Church, 15 Common St., Southborough, MA 01772.
