Vincent A. Bombaci, better known as Vin or Vinny, 92, of Scarborough, ME, and Southborough, MA, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on August 10, 2024.
Born May 2, 1932, to Andrew and Margaret Bombaci of Roxbury and Roslindale, MA, Vin attended Boston schools and received a BFA from Mass College of Art in 1954. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956. Vin and his wife Barbara raised their young family of three girls in Norwood, MA and later resided in Southborough, MA. Vin was an Art Director at the former Boston advertising agency, Dickie Raymond, bringing him around the world for client photo shoots. In 1977, Vin and his wife Barbara opened a direct marketing agency, Bombaci + Mitchell, with offices in MA.
But Vin’s heart and happy place was always at his beloved Higgins Beach in Scarborough, ME, where in 1960 he and Barbara bought their first home – an old summer cottage with a carriage house. Renovating the cottage was a labor of love for Vin, as he was an avid handyman and had a knack for DIY projects. They then went on to buy a beach front home in 1985 which they turned into a year-round residence. It was here that Vin spent his happiest times, taking in the sweeping views of the beach, fiercely advocating for the beach’s preservation, celebrating events with family and socializing with his friends and neighbors in the beach community. His ultimate pride and joy was spending time with his family at the beach, including the annual 4th of July and Lobsterfest celebrations.
Vin is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Barbara Bombaci, daughters and sons-in-law Deb and George Pappas of Simsbury, CT; Lisa and Joe Pedulla of Ashland, MA; daughter Janet Bombaci of Hudson, MA and his precious grandsons Matthew Pappas of San Diego, CA and Jacob and Alex Pedulla of Ashland, MA.
A celebration of Vin’s life will be held on Sunday, September 22nd at 11 AM at the Chapel of the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main Street, Ashland, MA. Donations can be made in Vin’s memory to Save Our Shores (S.O.S.) Maine.
