As I wrote last month, the Southborough public schools worked on another revamping of the school bus routes. This time the focus was on shortening the ride times for elementary school students. There were delays in publishing this year’s routes to the website. But they were posted by sometime yesterday.
The administration decided that the solution to avoiding the youngest students having bus routes that were too long was to give the Finn K-1 school its own dedicated buses. Woodward and Neary students will share buses, and Trottier will again share buses with Algonquin.
Parents should have received customized messages about their families’ details. You can find all of the routes here.
Administrators are aware that some families may have issues related to the timing and/or kids who have different stops. In a School Committee meeting earlier this summer, Superintendent Gregory Martineau stressed the need for parents to let them know about any specific hardships new bus routes pose so they can talk through solutions.
For more information, click here for the district’s transportation page. It also includes info on the Where is my Kid app that allows parents to track their kids’ buses. (One aspect I liked about it in the past was the ability to set up an alert to notify you when the bus is getting closer. But you should keep in mind that it won’t work if there is a temporary substitution of which bus is picking up or bringing home your kid due to staffing or mechanical issues.)
