Pamela A. (Denehy) Mozdiez, 78, of Southborough, died Thursday, August 29, 2024, at Care Dimensions in Lincoln, MA, surrounded by her family.
Pam was the daughter of the late James and Josephine (Sambuchi) Denehy and the wife of Thomas Mozdiez, who were married for 53 years.
Along with her husband Tom, Pam is survived by her daughters, Kristen Gillis and her husband Brian of Hopkinton and Jennifer Gillis and her husband Kevin of Southborough, her brother, James Denehy of Hyannis and her grandchildren, Ella and Jameson Gillis.
Pamela Ann Denehy, along with her brother Jim, grew up in Framingham, surrounded by a large and loving Italian family. Pam’s mother Pepi was one of ten siblings, so there were always lots of Aunts, Uncles and cousins around. As a child, she loved roaming the neighborhood and spending time with her aunts, listening to their family stories and learning the secrets of Italian cooking, which she perfected much to the benefit of us all.
In high school, Pam met Thomas Mozdiez and he was thrilled when she was his date for the prom. Tom lovingly refers to the courtship that followed as the “Summer of 62” as together they filled their weekends with day trips to Nantasket to feast on fried clams and take in the rides. Although cautious in nature, Pam did have some daredevil in her, and the roller coaster called “the Comet” was her favorite thrill of all.
When Tom returned from his years in the service, they resumed their courtship and were married in 1971. Tom loves to share the story when two years later Pam called him to tell him they were expecting Kristen, he thought she was going to jump through the phone she was so overcome with joy. That joy doubled when Jen was born and they became a family of four.
Through a serendipitous stroke of fate, Kristen and Jen fell in love with and married brothers and this began a chapter of life that brought Pam immense joy and happiness. Soon thereafter, her grandchildren Ella and Jameson arrived. Pam loved every second she was with them and she loved being their Grandmother and the love that they both showered upon in return her lit up her world. Anyone who had the pleasure of being in the company of Pam when she was with her grandchildren witnessed the purest form of love and joy in both directions.
Pamela’s family would like to thank God for the mercies bestowed upon our family these past few weeks. Pam enjoyed a trip to Chatham in late July and the family was together again a week later in Maine. We were able to celebrate her recent birthday surrounded by family and friends in nights filled with love and laughter.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, from 5:00-7:00 PM at the Morris-Johnston Funeral Home, 40 Main St., Southborough, MA. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at 11:00AM at St. Anne Church, 20 Boston Rd., Southborough, MA 01772. Burial will be private.
