A local community theater group is promoting some silly fun at a fundraiser in Southborough this week. The event will especially be of interest to those who are big fans of Legally Blonde.
Curtain up is raising funds for its upcoming production of the musical, scheduled to be performed in town this fall.
The group invites the public to buy tickets for a “Bend and Snap Party!”:
Come learn some fun Legally Blonde “Bend and Snap” dance moves while enjoying cocktails (or mocktails!), treats, and laughs with your friends!
The party will be at the Community House (28 Main St) on Friday, September 20th from 7:00 – 9:30 pm. The cost is $35 per person. You can buy tickets online here.
A message from event organizers promotes (with Elle style enthusiasm):
Curtain Up’s Legally Blonde choreographer will teach the group some “Bend and Snap” dance moves. (Don’t worry if you’re not a big dancer – this will just be silly and totally FUN!)
- Delicious pink cocktails will be served (think Cosmos and Sparkling Rose Prosecco)!
- We will also have some classy pink mocktails!
- Yummy light refreshments will be provided!
- We will have a fun photo booth!
- We put an exclamation point on everything because it will just be so amazing!
For those not familiar, the play’s Bend & Snap musical number is inspired by this move taught by the main character in the movie:
The musical will be performed at Trottier Middle School on the evenings of Friday and Saturday, November 1st and 2nd, and the afternoon of Sunday, November 3rd. (Times are still TBD.)
Based on their website and social media, there are three roles they may still be looking to fill — only one of which is human.
They’re advertising that they are seeking to cast “Carlos” (described in the casting call as “[Male]: Nikos’s ‘best friend’ aka boyfriend. Featured in ‘Gay or European'”). (Click here for audition details.)
They have also been recently scouting for two dogs:
Brusier Woods – Bruiser is affectionate and smart. He is a Chihuahua, Pomeranian, Terrier, etc. mix. Despite the miniature size, he exudes confidence, charm, style and is Elle’s loyal companion. Favorite color is pink and he is a member of the LGBTQ.
Rufus Bonafonte – Rufus is loveable and known to be a bit goofy. He comes from a broken home, but longs to be reunited permanently with his mom, Paulette. He is a Bulldog, Boxer, or other breed mix. Looks good in anything. A bachelor.
Basic Requirements:
- Bark on command is a PLUS
- Run off/on stage off leash
- Comfortable being picked up & carried around
- Respond to commands such as “come,” “sit,” and “stay*
