- Bend and Snap Party! (7:00 – 9:30 pm) @ Southborough Community House, 28 Main St: A fundraiser for the upcoming community theater musical Legally Blonde. Curtain Up invites people to buy tickets to learn “Bend and Snap” dance moves, enjoy pink cocktails/mocktails and light refreshments. For details, see dedicated post.
- NEF’s Applefest Gala – (7:30 pm – 11:30 pm) @ Juniper Hills Pavillian: Dress up for cocktails and dancing to live music sponsored by Education Foundation. (Northborough Education Foundation’s grants support Northborough’s public schools, including Algonquin Regional High School.) (Read more.)

- Northborough Applefest: Annual town festival featuring events with community ties to Algonquin and Borough. For details, see related post. [Note: There are conflicting reports of the event taking place as originally scheduled on Saturday (10-3) and of it being postponed to Sunday]
- Wee Care 30th Anniversary (11:00 am – 1:00 pm) @ 11 Main Street: An open house to celebrate the daycare & preschool’s milestone with fun activities, free food, and photos for reminiscing. For details, see dedicated post.
- Sit & Knit (2:00 – 4:00 pm) @ Southborough Library: The return of the fall schedule for the biweekly drop in program for ages 18+. Work on your latest knitting or crochet projects while you enjoy the company of fellow yarn crafters in a relaxed social setting. All levels are welcome but no formal instruction will be given.
- Learn to Laser Cut (11:00 am – 12:00 pm) @ Southborough Library Teen Room: Free library event for students in grades 6-12. Learn how to make fall and halloween themed charms, pendants, and key chains and go home with your own creation. Click here to register.
- Finding Fungi Hike (4:00 – 5:30 pm) @ Chestnut Hill Farm: An educational mushroom foraging hike. Pre-registration (and fee) required. For details, see related post.

- Out of the Darkness Community Walk @ Natick Common: SYFS is organizing a Southborough Team to walk in the fundraiser and awareness event for suicide prevention. For details, see related post.
- Rotary Club Street Fair There are conflicting reports of the event taking place as originally scheduled on Saturday (10-3) and of it being postponed to Sunday (11:00 am – 2:00 pm) @ Blake Street: Due to the rainy forecast, the event was suddenly postponed from Saturday to Sunday with new hours. Booths are used to sell food and goods or raise awareness. Features crafters, vendors, local businesses and community groups. For details, see related post.
- Northborough Applefest Parade (1:00 – 3:00 pm) @ Lincoln Street to downtown West Main Street, Northborough: Annual town parade featuring community groups including ones with Algonquin and Boroughs connections. For details, see related post.
- St. Mark’s Messy Church (4:00 – 6:00 pm) @ St Mark’s Episcopal Church Parish Hall, 27 Main St: A worship experience for busy families of younger kids. Includes a Bible story theme with activities, crafts, and a shared meal. For details, see related post.
Monday September 23, 2024
- Walking Group for Seniors (8:30 am) @ Trottier Middle School’s outdoor track: Free weekly walking group organized by the Southborough Senior Center. Walkers generally go for an hour, but continue for as long as you wish. The location is a loop, so feel free to join late.
- Preschool Story Time (10:30 – 11:15 am) @ Southborough Library Children’s Room: Ages 2-5 are invited for stories and a craft based on a weekly theme. No registration required. For details, see related post.
- Knitting Club (1:00 pm) @ Southborough Senior Center: Social knitting group — scheduled to meet weekly this summer. Beginners are welcome and supplies will be provided, though you can also bring your own and “any creation you are working on”.

- Bridge (12:00 pm) @ Southborough Senior Center: A weekly card group, welcoming new participants. For details, contact the Senior Center at 508-229-4453.
- Adult Coloring (1:00 – 2:00 pm) @ Southborough Senior Center: Pre-registration is required with a suggested donation (and it may be full). Enjoy coloring books over a social lunch. For details, see related post.
- Addressing Family Stress & Depression (6:30 – 8:00 pm) @ Southborough Library and virtual: SYFS is offering this free, hybrid workshop. Registration is required. For details, see related post.
- Poetry Workshop (6:30 – 8:30 pm) @ Southborough Library, main level: Bring in five copies of original poetry to share. The group will provide supportive feedback. If you don’t have a poem, come anyway and share your insights. (Meets twice monthly.)

- NSPAC Meeting (9:30 – 10:30 am) @ Northboro Library: The Northborough Southborough Special Education Parent Advisory Council (NSPAC) is hosting its first meeting of the school year with Student Support Services Q&A. For details, and to register, click here.
- Tech Time (11:00 am – 12:00 pm) @ Southborough Library, Teen Room: Library staff will help patrons with questions about devices, library apps, research databases and more. This is a weekly drop-in opportunity. No registration necessary.
- Young Scientists STEM Beginnings (1:15 – 2:00 pm) @ Southborough Library: This is a free 6-week in-person series for children, ages 3-6 to learn STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) concepts through hands-on activities, story time and simple experiments.. - Youth Volunteer Fair (4:30 – 5:30 pm) @ Southborough Library: For students in grades 6-12. Attendees will be able to sign up to volunteer at the library, and hear about other local nonprofit opportunities. There will be refreshments, fun activities and ice-breakers.

- Baby/Toddler Storytime (11:00 – 11:45 am) @ Southborough Library Children’s Room: A weekly program for ages 0-2 years with their parents/caregivers. Each session will include puppets and music. No registration required. For details, see related post.
- Blood Drive (12:00 – 6:30 pm) @ Southborough Library parking lot, 25 Main St: The Bloodmobile will be collecting blood. Each “successful” donor will be entered into a Pats ticket raffle. For details, see dedicated post.
- Middle School Book Club (4:00 – 5:00 pm) @ Southborough Library, Eaton Meeting Room: Monthly Book Club for grades 6-8 with discussion and activities. Please sign up at bit.ly/middleschoolbookclub.
- Trottier Musical Audition Workshop (2:15 – 3:30 pm) @ Trottier: Directly after school, the middle school’s Drama Program will hold a workshop for kids interested in learning about preparing to try out for a part in the annual musical theater production. - ARHS College Fair (time) @ Algonquin Regonal High School: Representatives from colleges and university will have booths to talk about their schools with students interested in learning more. (This usually includes reps from hundreds of schools.)

- Kids Jam (11:00 – 11:30 am) @ Southborough Library Children’s Room: Newborns through preschoolers are invited to dance and sing. No registration necessary. Sponsored by the Friends of the Southborough Library. For details, see related post.
- Canasta (10:00 am) @ Southborough Senior Center: A weekly card group playing “Hand & Foot”. For details, contact the Senior Center at 508-229-4453.
- Tween Writing Club (3:30 – 4:30 pm) @ Southborough Library Teen Room: Tweens ages 10-13 are invited to work on creative writing of all kinds. Make some friends and have fun as you let your creativity flow. Email msorensen@southboroughma.com for more details.
- Trottier Middle School Dance (6:30 – 8:30 pm) @ where: A free dance with a DJ for Trottier 6-8th grade students only. SOS will sell snacks and drinks for $1 each, cash only. Students should have a ride waiting for them at 8:30 pm. Permission slip is due by Wed Sept 25th.

- Volleyball Clinic (9:00 – 10:00 am) @ Fay School: A free limited registration clinic for 8-12 year olds. For details, see dedicated post.
- Yoga on the Trails for adults (9:00 – 10:00 am) @ Sudbury Reservoir Trail: Free event hosted by the Trails Committee. Participants are asked to bring a yoga mat, a towel to lay down on the ground, and a water bottle. Sign up and learn details here.

- Finn Fall Festival (3:00 – 5:00 pm) @ Finn School: Annual SOS fundraising festival for Finn School families. Music, Food & Games
- Northborough Applefest Fireworks and Family Fun (5:00 – 8:00 pm) @ Algonquin Regional High School athletic fields: One of the biggest highlights of Northborough’s annual town festival was rescheduled due to the weather. Includes food vendors, music, face painting and fireworks. There is a $20 parking fee. For details, see related post.
Updated (9/21/24 9:35 am): I learned this morning that the Rotary Club Street Fair was suddenly postponed from Saturday to Sunday with new hours, due to the rainy forecast.
Updated (9/21/24 9:42 am): I had accidentally pasted the Messy Church event under the wrong Sunday! As I posted yesterday, the season for the St. Mark’s Church series kicks off this Sunday, September 22nd.
