On Heritage Day, the Town will hold a dedication ceremony in the new “Heritage Park”. The ceremony is to commemorate a bench that is dedicated to a late Southborough resident, Kim Tolander.
The ceremony will take place at noon on Monday, October 14th. It will be located in the main circle of the park at the corner of St. Mark’s Street (next to the Southborough Library and across the street from the field of booths and activities).
The bench is already marked with a plaque dedicating the bench in Tolander’s memory “In Loving Appreciation For All She Did For The People Of Southborough”. (See photos below.)
Tolander suddenly passed away in 2022 at the age of 48. You can read more about the beloved late resident here.
For those not familiar with the name Heritage Park, The Select Board voted in January to approve the name recommended by the St. Mark’s Street Park Working Group. Construction and landscaping of the park at the reconstructed St. Mark’s Street intersection with Marlborough Road was finally completed and opened this past spring.
Below are more photos from my walk through the park yesterday:
For interested readers who have been following the controversies around the “pocket park”, I added an update to the last story I ran on the topic last fall. You can read that here.
