Obituary: Ahmed I. White, 69

Ahmed White, 69, of Marlborough, died Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at UMass Memorial Health – Marlborough Hospital.

He was the son of the late Phillip White and Roslyn (Penn) Peterson and was the husband to Karen (Baugh) White to whom he had been married for 37 years.

Along with his wife Karen, Ahmed is also survived by his daughter, Cassidy White of Marlborough, his son, Brian David White and his wife Aida of Shrewsbury and his granddaughter, Isabel White. He also leaves behind a sister-in-law, Lynn Richards and her husband Jeff, a brother-in-law, Kevin Baugh of Marlborough and a nephew Grayer, who knew him as Uncle Happy.

Ahmed was born in Brooklyn but was a Navy brat and lived in all sorts of places including Maryland and Hawaii. Finally in 1969, he settled down in Southborough with his mother.

Ahmed attended Algonquin Regional High School where he played football, basketball and baseball, experiences that would later help as he coached the youth of Southborough from the late 70s to the early 90s. He was even the coach of his son’s soccer and basketball teams.

Upon graduating from Algonquin, where he had made many friends, Ahmed began working for National Grid, where he stayed on for more than 40 years.

Ahmed was a true lover of sports. He was a member of the Gravediggers, a softball team made up of mostly his friends from high school. He was an ardent Celtics fan and was overjoyed to see his team win their 18th championship. He attended his daughter’s dance recitals and plays and always had flowers ready.

He was a lover of Maine, spending many vacations with his family whether on the beaches of York or the mountains of Moosehead.

Ahmed was a true fan of the Grateful Dead, a love only matched by family and friends. He spent many years going to shows with his best friend Tom Morris, who he considered his brother. He would later share his love of the band with his then girlfriend and eventual wife, Karen.

A celebration of life for Ahmed will be held at the Fayville Athletic Association, located at 6 Grove Street in Fayville, MA, 01745 on October 12th, 2024, from 2:00-5:00pm. Please join his family in raising a toast to this incredible man.

“A box of rain will ease the pain and love will see you through.”
