Two weeks ago, I shared that construction work would be taking place on the railway crossing on Central Street. That has meant that drivers needed to detour around the area for two days.
DPW Superintendent Bill Cundiff reached out with an update today. The Central Street crossing should reopen this evening, around 8:00 pm.
If you haven’t been aware and will be traveling in the area earlier this afternoon evening, here are the original details that were promoted in late September:
According to CSX Railroad Consultant (Safety Services & Supply, Inc.), The Central Street Railroad crossing will be closed on October 15th and will reopen on October 16th. The road closure is to allow CSX to make improvements to the railroad crossing which is currently in very poor condition. The proposed Detour is attached. We appreciate the patience and understanding of everyone who has been affected by this situation.
