A local, adult community theater group is promoting its upcoming musical that is “so much fun, it should be illegal!”
Curtain Up’s production of Legally Blonde will take the stage in Southborough, starting a week from Friday.
The musical will be performed in the auditorium at Trottier Middle School. Although it is on a school stage, this isn’t the “Jr” script version that was put on by the middle schoolers six years ago.
The Curtain Up cast is comprised of adults 18+ (and canines). It’s also a little longer, running about 2 hours, 20 minutes. (There will be a 15 minute intermission with “light concessions” sales.)
The website asks for any children attending to be at least 5 years old, and warns that the play:
includes some adult language and mild sexual content and may not be appropriate for younger audiences. The musical closely follows the plot and tone of the movie upon which it is based, which has a PG-13 rating.
- Friday, November 1st at 7:30pm
- Saturday, November 2nd at 7:30pm
- Sunday, November 3rd at 2pm
Tickets cost $20 per adult, $15 per senior, and $10 per child (over 5). They can be purchased on their website here.
It’s the first “mainstage show” being put on by the relatively new theater group. (Last fall, the group’s premier production was a Broadway themed musical revue at the Willows Retirement community.) Organizers were happy to share some photos of the cast having fun during rehearsals:

For those not familiar with the plot:
