As I reminded in my prior post about the Southborough Library & Fay School Halloween party for kids this Saturday morning, that’s not the only Town sponsored Halloween celebration that day.
The 4th annual Trunk or Treat — the free Halloween festivities put on by the Southborough Firefighters Association and Southborough Recreation — will take place that afternoon. Plus, like the first annual event, this year’s party includes a movie night.
On Saturday, October 26th, costumed families are encouraged to gather outside of Woodward School (28 Cordaville Road). At 3:00 pm, they’ll march down the access road to SFA’s annual Halloween party in their station garage (at the Public Safety Building).
As usual, the firefighters will be giving out treats and judging winners of their costume contest. (Some families really get into this with themed family getups.)
Immediately following the party at the station, partygoers can head back over to the Woodward parking lot for the actual Trunk or Treat portion of the event.
There, Rec and other Town departments and local organizations will have car trunks/vehicles decorated like parade floats. (Last year, that included some interactive fun.) Volunteers (some in costume) will pass out candy to the trick or treaters.
This year, Rec is also bringing in a food truck for families that stick around (or leave and return, or just show up late) for the outdoor movie night.
Starting at 5:00 pm, families can buy dinner from Birds Eye Italian Street food. (See menu right.)
That will be followed by the outdoor screening of the movie Casper at around 6:00 pm/dusk. Rec invites:
Bring your picnic blankets and lawn chairs to enjoy a cozy, drive-in style movie starting at dusk. It’s the perfect way to end an evening of Halloween fun with the whole family! We hope you can make it
The Rated PG movie runs about 1 hr 36 min (which means the event will likely be over by 7:45 pm — though officially is scheduled to go until 8:00 pm). You can find more on the film about the friendly ghost here.
