Post Season Update

ARHS is all in on state playoffs — Field Hockey and Girls Volleyball advance to Round of 16, Soccer and Football enter their brackets

Seven Algonquin teams are competing in state playoffs/championship tournaments this week. Two of the games scheduled are at home, one of those tomorrow.

On Saturday, #3 Titans Field Hockey beat Westford 4-1 in the Division 1 Round of 32. This Wednesday, they’ll host #14 Concord-Carlisle in the Sweet 16. (You can buy tickets for the 5:00 pm game here.)

In their Division 2 Round of 32, #9 Girls Volleyball beat Milford 3-0 on Friday. They’ll be traveling to #8 Duxbury for their Sweet 16 on Wednesday.

This Tuesday, Boys and Girls Soccer will enter the D1 tourneys, starting in the Round of 32.

The 11th seed Boys will host #22 Franklin at 6:00 pm at the GonkPlex. (This morning, online ticket sales were showing up as “closed”.)

In reverse seeding, the #22 Gonk Girls will travel to #11 Concord Carlisle for a 6:30 pm game. The Titans lost 4-1 when they played at Concord-Carlisle in late September.

On Friday, Gonk Football lost 40-6 to Leominster.  They’re entering the D2 playoffs with a 4-4 record. This Friday, the #9 team will travel to take on #8 Bridgewater-Raynham in the Sweet 16.

Win or lose, it will still be a boast-worthy achievement to have made the playoffs. That’s something the team hasn’t achieved since the state tourneys revamped in 2021 to eliminate regional divisions. Even prior to that, the last time they made into Central Mass playoffs was 2016.

It’s worth highlighting that the only ARHS team that didn’t qualify for the state tournaments this fall was still able to send a member to compete. (Boys Golf’s Liam Dunn, came in first for CMass, and went on to tie for 22nd place at the Division 1 state individuals.)

This Saturday, both Boys and Girls Cross Country teams will compete at the Division 1 State Championships.

Now, here is the current schedule at a glance:

(Stay tuned for a mid-week update if any of the teams are scheduled to compete again before next Monday.)
