The recent Scouting for Food drive was a success. I’m sharing BSA’s announcement with their thank you for the community’s generosity to the Southborough Food Pantry.
Given the drive helps residents in need have enough food in time for a happy Thanksgiving, heading into the holiday week is a good time to share the organizers’ gratitude:
A big thank you to the Southborough community for your generous donations to Scouting for Food this year. On Saturday, November 9th, Southborough Scouts and families, Fay School students, and Southborough Food Pantry volunteers collected and sorted close to 7,000 pounds of food and raised over $1000 in monetary and gift card donations for the Southborough Food Pantry. Your support has made a significant impact!
Special thanks to:
- The public schools of Southborough, St. Mark’s School, the Southborough Library, and the Transfer Station for publicizing the event.
- Andrew Abu Realtors for generously printing our flyers.
- Fay School students for volunteering at the event.
- Pilgrim Church for providing the space to hold the event.
- The Scouting Troop and Pack leadership for their support.
- The Scouting for Food Committee members for organizing another successful event.
Special recognition goes to the late Darryl Lewis of QuikPrint, who kindly provided printing services in the past years and quietly declined any payment, saying it was “for the Scouts.”
A tremendous thank you is owed to the volunteers of the Southborough Food Pantry who work tirelessly all year long to serve our residents in need.
If you missed Scouting for Food and would still like to support the Food Pantry, you can drop off non-perishable items in the plastic bins at the back entrance of Pilgrim Church or make a monetary donation here. As we head into the holiday season, we should all be grateful to live in such a generous community!
Thank you all!
Sincerely,
