I’m reminding readers, and sharing more details on, one of the most exciting annual events for many families in Southborough. The forecast has me very optimistic that Santa (and a special guest) will be cleared to fly into Southborough this Saturday!
Thanks to Southborough Kindergroup, Santa Claus is scheduled to come in by helicopter for his pre-Christmas trip to Southborough on December 7th.
(As I always explained to the young ones – reindeer can only fly on Christmas Eve, and the North Pole is quite a long trip by land. It just makes sense.)
The copter is scheduled to land on the St. Mark’s field at the corner of Routes 30 and 85 at noon.* Organizers are promoting that this time there will be a “surprise visitor” with him when he lands.
Each year, the jolly old elf emerges to greet a crowd buzzing with excitement. After a brief greeting, he works his way through to cross the street to the Community House.
Inside is where he fulfills his real purpose — to hear from children what they want for Christmas (while grownups snap pictures and hope their kids’ wishes are reasonable). This year’s free event also includes a professional photo.
While waiting their turn inside, kids can enjoy stories read aloud by Mrs. Claus, a visit from Olaf (the snowman from Disney’s Frozen), and crafts.
Kindergroup promotes that free admission to the 12:00 – 3:00 pm event again also includes complimentary coffee, hot chocolate and cookies! (That’s all thanks to the sponsors in the flyer right.)
Santa Day may be Saturday’s biggest event in town, but there are many others taking place that day and over the weekend. For my list of other upcoming Christmas/holiday-related community events in Southborough click here.
*(Note: If the forecast changes to indicate landing a copter would be unsafe, he’ll arrive by fire engine instead.)
