Here are my highlights from Algonquin varsity sports competitions last week and the schedule for this week.
Algonquin Ice Hockey had a good holiday week. The Boys beat Nashoba 7-0 improving their record to 2-2. And the Girls beat Longmeadow 2-1 bringing their record to 1-0-1.
Titans Basketball was in more competitions, with inconsistent results. The Boys lost to BC 70-84 on Monday but beat Grafton 67-44 on Friday. The Girls lost to Natick 41-68 on Monday, updating its record to 3-1. Playing In Hopkinton’s invitational tournament over the weekend, the Titans lost 52-60 to the hosts in the first round.
Both the Girls and Boys Indoor Track competed in more MSTCA competitions over the past week. At the Distance Classic and Pentathalon, ARHS’ Ben Skilton won the Mens Pole Vault and Brogan Mulkerin came in 4th place. You can find the full results for both teams here. Last Monday, Gonk Gymnastics hosted Groton-Dunstable and Shrewsbury. According to the Boosters, the Titans won 133.9 to 125.65 and 124.35.
(I couldn’t find any posted results for Wrestling’s tournaments and meets last week, and the swim teams didn’t compete.)
