Here are my highlights from Algonquin varsity sports competitions last week and the schedule for this week.
It’s less than a month into the winter season, but most Titans teams can now boast of winning records at this point.
Boys Basketball now stands at 5-2 after beating both St. Paul of Worcester (54-35) and Shrewsbury (66-50). Girls Basketball also beat Shrewsbury (40-35), improving their record to 4-1.
Boys Ice Hockey is on a winning streak. The team won the last 4 of its 6 games this season. Last week’s wins were over St. Paul (8-1) and Groton-Dunstable (7-0) Girls Ice Hockey lost to Natick (3-0) but beat Leominster (2-1). They now stand at 2-1-1.
Both the Boys and Girls Swimming teams won meets against Shrewsbury and Westborough last week. The Boys won 101-72 and 92-77 and have a 4-2 record. The Girls won 96-76 and 92-76 and stand at 5-1. I couldn’t find Algonquin’s results posted for multi-school meets that Gymnastics and Wrestling participated in last week.
