This weekend, Southborough Safe Spaces is hosting an inclusive Family Game Night. Days later, they’ll launch a new “Community Gatherings” event series.
Southborough Safe Spaces was founded to support “LGBTQ+ youth and families in leading happy, healthy, full lives”.
The Family Game Night will take place this Saturday night, January 18th at 7:00 pm. The event will feature playing games and include dinner.
Unlike their regular Youth Group meetings, this isn’t a drop-off event. Kids must be accompanied by an adult.
On Facebook, organizers promote:
Grab your family (of origin or choice!), friends, and a game and join us for a great time!. . .Join us if you—
- are already involved in our program!
- have LGBTQIA identifying kids that are younger or older than our program ages!
- are queer parents seeking community!
- have been curious about joining our youth programs or supporting our efforts but haven’t reached out yet!
-
think playing fun games in a queer-dominant environment sounds as amazing as it is!!!
The dinner is chicken tenders and tots, and participants are “free to bring a fresh fruit or veg side or dessert to share”.
You can join them at St. Mark’s Church’s Stevens Hall.
The group also announced the launching of a new Community Gatherings series a week from tonight, Monday, January 20th at 6:00 pm:
We’re thrilled to announce the launch of our Community Gatherings—a space for anyone who wants to support LGBTQ+ youth or simply be part of a community that champions the health and well-being of LGBTQ+ people. Allies, supporters, and LGBTQ+ folks of all ages—you’re all welcome! . . .
We’ll kick things off with a post-holiday community conversation about how we can cultivate and grow chosen family. Whether you’re looking to connect, share, or just listen, there’s a place for you here. Come as you are, and bring a friend if you’d like. This is YOUR space to feel supported, included, and valued.
The group also posted the dates for future Youth Group Meetings, where LBGTQ+ youth of all faiths and their allies in grades 6-12 can “connect, share and be themselves”. Those will take place from 7:00 – 9:00 pm on Saturdays, February 1st & 15th, March 8th & 29th, and April 12th & 26th.
