Southborough Recreation is promoting an upcoming “Interview Prep Workshop” for teens ages 13-18.
In a noteworthy Facebook post on the topic, Rec also announced a big change for this year’s Summer Camp program for CITs (Counselors in Training) that may make signing kids up a higher priority for some families.
The Facebook post states:
Our summer counselor applications will open early February! All summer CITs (ages 13-14) will be required to interview for positions as well. Spring/Summer registration will open on February 12th. (Additional details will be posted in the seasonal guide, which will be available at the end of January)
The Teen Interview Prep Workshop for 13-18 year olds will take place on Thursday January 23rd from 4:00 – 5:30 pm. The registration deadline is one week prior, January 16th.
In the promotional post, Rec writes:
Is your teen preparing for a job, internship, or college interview? This workshop is designed to boost their confidence, polish their communication skills, and teach them how to make a lasting impression.
On the registration page, it further details:
In this workshop participants will learn self-presentation skills, important talking points, and best practices to help succeed at an interview.
Topics Include: What to do before the interview • Know your resume • Understanding different interview formats • Dressing for success • Mastering the art of first impressions • Your elevator pitch • Tackling common interview questions • Asking pertinent questions of the employer • What to do after the interview • Interview do’s and don’ts and more.
The workshop will be held at Rec’s facilities at the South Union Building, 21 Highland Street. The cost is $85 per participant. You can register here.
The session is the latest in a series of offerings Rec is offering that are run by New England School of Protocol.
On March 20th the protocol school will put on a workshop for ages 10-13 on Pre-Teen Texting, Email and Social Media Etiquette. That workshop will cost $75. (Registration is on the same page, here.)
They’ll also hold workshops for 7-12 year olds on Social Skills (on March 6th) and Conversation Skills (on March 13th) for $80 each. Details and registration for those programs are here.
