Here are my highlights from Algonquin varsity sports competitions last week and the schedule for this week:
The Titans’ Hockey and Basketball teams had a good week.
Boys Ice Hockey beat Grafton 6-0, improving their record to 5-4-2 and their D2 ranking to #22. Girls Ice Hockey is on a 3-win streak. Their latest wins were 2-0 over Natick and 6-1 over Leominster. Their record is now 7-1-3. Their D2 ranking shot up to #6 even prior to the most recent win.
Boys Basketball extended its winning streak to four. The Titans beat Clinton 56-46 on Friday. That updates their them to 10-3. Prior to the win, their Division 1 Power Ranking already improved to #30.
Girls Basketball improved its record to 8-5 with two new wins at home last week. The Gonk Girls beat Concord-Carlisle 52-43 and Hudson 47-40. That improved their D1 rank to #24.
For ARHS Gymnastics, I have some better late than never results. According to The Harbinger, the Titans beat both Groton-Dunstable and Shrewsbury on January 13th. And in posted results from last Monday’s meet, Titans came in second with a score of 127.6. They lost to Marlboro (139.85) but bested Shrewsbury again (121.15). (I don’t have results yet from their latest meet on Friday.)
ARHS Indoor Track competed in the annual MSTCA Coaches Invitational yesterday. Their best event appears to have been the High Jump where Niamh OSullivan came in 4th place for the Girls and Miles Lipka 5th place for the Boys. (You can find full results from the meet here.) This Sunday, they’ll compete in the MidWach League Championships.
The Swim & Dive teams are also competing in league championships this week. Tomorrow, the Boys will head to the MidWach Dive Championships. And on Thursday, both the Boys and Girls teams will compete in MidWach Swim Championships. (No results were posted from their meet vs Worcester on Friday.)
The Boosters is holding a fundraiser for the Swim & Dive teams this Wednesday, January 29th. From noon to 9:00 pm food purchased at MOOYAH Burgers in Northborough: will help the team afford equipment and “healthy snacks prior to swim events”. Mention the fundraiser when ordering in person or use promo code NORTHBOROFUN when ordering through the app. (See flyer right.)
Gonk Wrestling lost to Tyngsborough in a meet last Wednesday. But I can’t find any posted results from their more recent Quad meet on Saturday.
And I don’t have results from the Ski teams‘ Slalom Race last week, but the Hopkinton Hillers posted a video of the CMass event that you can watch here.
