Southborough Rec is offering more opportunities for getting trained (and acquiring a certificate good for 2 years) to save lives through CPR or use of an AED. One of the classes is in less than two weeks.
Rec’s registration page shares an American Heart Association PSA alerting that each year over 350,000 people suffer out-of-hospital cardiac arrests, and only 10% survive.
In addition to learning a skill that could help you save a life, it also may help some residents get or keep a job. (CPR certification is often required for jobs at camps, schools, etc.)
The classes will be put on by the Greater Boroughs Partnership for Health, at the Southborough Public Safety Building. They will be offered every two months on a Monday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. Sessions are scheduled for February 10th, April 14th, and June 9th.
The cost is $30 per person and open to anyone 12 years of age or older.
This class is to learn about “how high-quality CPR improves survival” and how to:
- recognize when someone needs CPR
- perform high-quality CPR for an adult, child, and infant
- give effective breaths using mouth-to-mouth or a mask for all age groups
- use an AED on an adult, child, or infant
- help a choking adult, child, or infant
Upon course completion, students will be Heartsaver certified (CPR/AED) for two years from the date of the class.
