Over February Break, Southborough Recreation is hosting a special one hour  dance lesson. The free class is for kids and adults (starting at ages 4 years and older).

The focus is “Asian Folkloric Dance”.

Asian Folkloric flyer 2The lesson will be led by Michelle Liu and other instructors from Angel Dance Performing Arts (who is also a Southborough resident and Algonquin student.)

A flyer she shared promotes, “When West Meets East”.

Asian Folkloric Dance flyerRec’s detailed flyer clarifies that dances will include “folkloric dance movement” from eastern countries/regions including Mongolia, Tibet, and Dai.

Participants will learn how to use dance props (umbrella, different types of fans, bows, etc), plus proper stretches and positioning.

Organizers promise fun and laughter. They also instruct, “The class will be interactive so please dress accordingly.”

Although free, registration is required to attend. The event will take place in the South Union Building, 21 Highland Street, on Wednesday, February 19th from 3:00 – 4:00 pm.
