If there is someone whose service to the Southborough Library you think is worth noting, here’s your chance. The Southborough Library is seeking nominees for this year’s annual Peggy Tuttle Award for Library Service Distinction.
To me, the award is always less about service to the library, than service to the community through the Library.
With the exclusion of the Library’s Director, anyone associated with the library can be nominated, as long as they haven’t won in a previous year. Winners have included service oriented staff members and volunteers. (Beloved, late staff member Peggy Tuttle was both in her lifetime.)
The list of winners since the award was launched in 2015 is:
- Jane Smith
- Diana Tremblay
- Heidi Lindsey
- Pat Ellis
- Dot Spiro
- Denise Johnson
- Prudence Webster
- Judy Budz
- Leah Selleck
- Beth Melo1
This year’s winner could be someone you nominate.
The nominations are due by Monday, March 10th. [Note: The nomination form states a March 1st deadline, but that has been extended.]
You can download a form to print out or submit the nomination online.
Here are more details the library posted in a past year about the annual honor:
This award is named in recognition and honor of longtime library employee Peggy Tuttle. During her 30+ years as a librarian, Peggy Tuttle always said that the people were the most important part of her job at the library. Peggy played a huge part in establishing the welcoming attitude and creating the charm of our town’s library. Children’s Librarian, Kim Ivers, who knew Peggy Tuttle for the majority of her professional career, described Peggy Tuttle as “the embodiment of customer service.”
