A week from Friday, the community is invited to attend the fourth “Culture & Music Festival” hosted by Northborough and Southborough Public Schools.
The evening is organized by NSBORO’s Coalition for Equity and Multilingual Learner Department. Organizers promote:
Experience moving musical performances, dance routines, and more, all showcasing the diverse cultures that make up our community. . .
We look forward to celebrating the diverse cultures, rich talents, and vibrant community spirit that make our school and town truly special!
The events are meant to foster a sense of community embracing a variety of cultures. To that end the district has encouraged NSBORO students and families to:
Submit your artwork, perform a poem, sing, dance, or play an instrument that represents your culture and heritage. This is your chance to share your talent and celebrate your story.
For more information or to get involved, email Selvi Oyola at soyola@nsboro.k12.ma.us or Maggi Ibrahim at mibrahim@nsboro.k12.ma.us.
Attendees are also encouraged to wear “cultural attire”.
The festival on Friday, March 7th will be held at Algonquin Regional High School, 79 Bartlett St, Northborough. The festival will begin at 5:30 pm, with performances starting in the auditorium at 6:00 pm to include:
- Angel Dance Company
- Ritmos Dance
- Kekeli African Drums
- Bollywood Dance
In addition to the acts on stage, there will be a student and family art exhibit that “reflects their unique heritage and perspectives”. And an interactive booths will allow attendees to “enjoy some arts and crafts, and learn about different cultural organizations”.
Last spring, intern Laney Halsey wrote up a recap of the 2024 festival with photo highlights. You can check that out here.
Updated (2/25/25 4:43 pm): I revised to include the time and new details from a new flyer shared this afternoon.
