Southborough’s Meals on Wheels program is again seeking volunteers to make deliveries.
Meals on Wheels is part of the Senior Center’s Elderly Nutrition Program. It’s run by Springwell. The program delivers nutritious meals to homebound seniors and individuals with disabilities. The goal is to help “elders maintain independence so they can continue to live in their desired setting.”
Meals are picked up at the Westboro Senior Center and delivered to Southborough seniors. Home delivered meals are served through the Meals on Wheels service Monday through Friday, 10:00 am – 1:00 pm (except when school is cancelled due to the weather). It’s worth noting that the program does reimburse volunteers for mileage. You can learn more about volunteering here.
If you can’t volunteer daily, you could inquire about helping a few hours per week or acting as a backup substitute.
Volunteers must be at least 18 years old (and submit to a CORI check). For more information on volunteering, or to sign up, please call 617-926-4100.
