Obituary: Susanne S. (Storm) Dumont, 89

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Susanne Storm Dumont, 89, of Westborough, formerly of Southborough. She died peacefully in her sleep surrounded by family on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, MA.

She is survived by her children, Craig Dumont and his wife Patty of Ipswich, Anthony Dumont and his wife Karen of Duxbury and Storm McGuire and her husband Jerry of Greenville, SC. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Joshua Dumont, Sydney Dumont, Jasper Dumont, Katie McGuire, Jerry McGuire, Chase McGuire and Emma McGuire. She is survived by brothers, Philip and his wife Maryanne, Karl and his wife Susie and many nieces and nephews.

Susanne was born and raised in Wilmington, Delaware. She attended St. Anne’s College Preparatory School in Charlottesville, VA and graduated in 1953. Susanne continued her education and graduated from Endicott Junior College, Beverly Ma, in 1955. She then began her career at The New England Life Insurance Co in Boston, Ma where she met her former husband Robert C. Dumont, the father of her three children.

Susanne and her family resided in Southborough, Ma where she was actively involved in Garden Club, Pilgrim Church, The Salvation Army and many other charitable organizations. She was an exceptional hostess, known for her outstanding New Year’s Day brunches, elegant dinner parties and memorable pre and post cotillion parties. Her warmth and hospitality brought joy to all who attended, creating cherished memories for family and friends. Her family circle was not limited to her own children. She was also a loving “surrogate Mom” to a small but deserving group of St Mark’s school boarding students who would always be part of her life. An exceptional athlete in high school and college, Susanne would later become an avid sports fan, regularly attending her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events regardless of distance or weather conditions. She had a deep love for the beach, especially Cranes beach in Ipswich, South Cape Beach in Mashpee and Nauset Beach in Orleans where she spent countless sunny days soaking up the sun and enjoying the waves.

Susanne was at the center of her children and grandchildren’s lives. No event was complete without her presence. Whether boating, playing cards, watching her granddogs or beating everyone at Rummikub, she loved being around her family.

She will be remembered for her fun loving spirit, her strength, her sense of independence and the legend that she was!

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday April 5th, 2025, at Pilgrim Congregational Church, 15 Common St., Southborough, MA 01772.
