Annual Town Meeting quick recap on the votes (Updated)

At Monday night’s Annual Town Meeting, voters passed Articles representing around a 7.37% tax increase for next year. Most Articles were passed without amendments. Only a few failed.

Here’s what wasn’t approved:

  • Indefinitely Postponed – Article 9: Rescind Unused but Authorized Debt for Breakneck Hill Farm cleanup
  • Failed – Article 12: Appropriating $25K to conduct a new Pay & Classification Study for Non-Union Employees.
  • Failed – Article 29: Amending Town zoning bylaws for special permits for Accessory Dwelling Units over 900 sq ft
  • Indefinitely Postponed – Article 28: Amending  Town zoning bylaws for smaller by-right Accessory Dwelling Units
  • Failed – Article 37: Citizen’s Petition – Appropriation for Counsel for Breakneck Hill Farm cleanup

Stay tuned for more coverage of the meeting (after I get some sleep).

Updated (4/8/25 7:07 am): I initially forgot to include Article 9 in the list.

I was so surprised that Kathy Cook never called on Chief Newell to make a presentation on his budget

Beth is correct. Chiefs Newell and Puntini were in attendance and prepared to answer any questions about their proposed significant increases in their respective budgets for FY 26. I was surprised that there were no questions on those two budgets. We (SB jointly with Advisory) did have two public meetings prior to TM where their proposed budgets were reviewed with each of them. Maybe questions were answered then. I don’t know.

Thank you Kathy. I appreciate your your response. After attending town meeting for 50 years, I was a bit surprised there were no questions
