Somehow I went all last week without letting you know that the children’s room at the library is now open once again. It has fresh paint, fresh carpet, and a fresh new layout.
The little kids area — complete with the big stuffed bear and moose (or is it a reindeer?) — is now off to the left where the young adult stacks used to be. And the stacks are straight ahead as you walk in the door. The arrangement gives the older kids more of a space of their own, while keeping the little kids off the emergency exit stairs.
They’re still waiting for some furniture to arrive, but Children’s Librarian Kim Ivers said they’ll probably have a grand reopening party once everything is in place. Work continues on the meeting rooms and kitchen area, so those are still closed.
