Two community organizations shared pictures and outcomes from events they held over Heritage Day weekend.
Last Sunday, Southborough residents braved the damp weather for the traditional viewing of pumpkins on the old stone wall. That is, until heavier rain came sending some families fleeing home. Heritage Day attendees were still able to enjoy the remains of the “Pumpkin Stroll” the next morning before most gourds were collected.
The 20th annual display was sponsored by Southborough Rotary Club. According to the club, over 175 pumpkins were on display this year.
They were also delighted to boast the results of their targeted collection drive for the Southborough Food Pantry at the event. It yielded 47 boxes of cereal, 29 cans of clam chowder, 2 gallons of apple cider, and 15 misc. food cans.
They offered their thanks to everyone who helped make this important contribution to the pantry possible.

For the third year, the town’s chapter of Knights of Columbus used the Columbus Day event to put on its Town level penalty kick contest. They asked me to share their wrap up:
The 2018 K of C Soccer Challenge was a huge success thanks to the Heritage Day Committee, the Knights of Columbus, Falconi Energy, friends, and of course the kids.
Nearly 40 kids participated and as these pictures show, a great time was had by all.
As I’ve previously posted, the winners get to move on to higher level competitions in the organizations’ international challenge. Good luck kids!
